cirque glacier of the Tristaina lakes, Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO
Ordino Arcalís inaugurates the Tristaina Solar Viewpoint, a panorqmic monument of 25 meters in diameter at 2.701m high, from which we can enjoy unbeatable 360-degree views of the entire cirque of the glacier of the Tristaina lakes and the Valley of Ordino, named a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
To acces, we could do it by two ways:
For the more daring, it is a trek of about two hours uphill, where we can enjoy the flora and fauna of the area.
For those who do not want or are not prepared, it can be accessed through a panoramic ride on the gondola and chairlift of Orino ski station (Tristaina gondola and Creussans chairlift) and about 5 minutes walking along an easy and prepared path to the viewpoint. In fact, the project was designed taking into account the accesses by chairlift, so that it was accessible to all types of publics.
The work is a tribute to the “Arcalis Peak” known as “The Solar Mountain” for an extraordinary event that occurs every August 7 and was discovered by Bonaventura Adellach : at 7:37h a.m. the sun is visible for three minutes through a hole in the rock.
The new Tristaina Solar Viewpoint project, chich was born in 2018 as a result of conversations between the president of Grandvalira Resorts, Joan Viladomat, and the engineer Sergi Riba Porras, hopes to be a new important tourist attraction for the parish of Ordino and also for Andorra, being one of the most impressive sundials in Europe.
